After Graduating from Brother Martin High School, I started out in the electrical business, and I have been in the electrical field since 1979. I started out as an electrical apprentice for my father, who was also an electrician, completing a four year apprenticeship program. This program included electrical theory and on the job training. I moved through the ranks from apprentice to electrical superintendent. I worked on and supervised such projects as Sears Clearview, tenant build-out work at the Poydras Center, Place St. Charles, One Shell Square and other downtown projects. I also ran numerous electrical projects throughout the State of Louisiana.
I then moved to a position of chief electrician at Canal Place running a facility of office tower retail mall and Westin Hotel. In addition to my responsibilities in the electrical trade, I was sent for additional training in the automation field through Honeywell. Over the next few years I worked on automated control projects as well as tenant build-out and renovation work at the hotel, retail mall, and office tower. While at the Westin Hotel, I was on the master contractor list with AT&T and South Central Bell. In this capacity, I did work on switching stations as well as tenant build-out work for these organizations. After my tenure at Canal Place, I took the position of project manager for the Audobon Institute, overseeing the construction of the Aquarium of the Americas. In this capacity, I was responsible for assisting with the oversight of construction of the Aquarium. I was also responsible for the selection of the automation and specialty systems for the facility.
After the construction was complete, I served in the capacity of department head for the electical and automation division. I am certified on Siemens Building Technologies Systems. At the aquarium, I maintained the facility, IMAX theatre, and Woldenberg Riverfront Park. I was also responsible for the design and installation of the surveillance systems for the facility and park and for numerous renovation projects for the park and the facilities. I assisted in projects at the Survival Center and Audobon Zoo. Throughout the years, I worked up to the Directors level, running seven different departments including the electrical department. I have taken many continuing education courses in the electrical field - - from design and controls to electrical theory. I stay updated with the local codes as well as the National Electrical Codes. I am a very dedicated and driven individual. I am committed to serve in this community for many years to come.
